Parking at Mont Saint-Michel
One car park, 2.5 kilometres from the island, run by the Établissement public du Mont-Saint-Michel. The price depends on the season and on how long you stay, the first half hour is free all year, and the fee includes the shuttle.

The free first thirty minutes, and the free evenings
Thirty minutes are free every day of the year, which covers a drop-off or a photograph from the esplanade but nothing else. Between September and June parking is free from 6:30pm to 3am; in July and August that evening slot costs €15. For anyone happy to see the Mont lit rather than in daylight, the winter evening is the cheapest visit there is.

Coaches on organised departures use the same site, and their passengers join the same shuttle queue as everyone else. If you are on a tour, none of this is your problem — the fare covers it.
Booking online — the €2, and the arrival windows that qualify
Booking a space in advance takes €2 off the price. In mid and high season the discount applies to arrivals before 10am or after 3pm, which is the Établissement public nudging traffic away from the middle of the day. Those are also the two windows in which the island is worth walking around, so the discount and the good advice point the same way.
Arrive before ten and you save €2 and the crowds. The coach parties from Paris reach the car park between eleven and one, which is exactly when the Grande Rue becomes difficult to move along.
Where the car park is
It sits on the mainland at Beauvoir, off the D275, and it is the last place a private car can go. From there you have three ways in: the free Le Passeur shuttle, a horse-drawn Maringotte, or about forty minutes on foot across the bridge.
What the parking fee also covers
Your ticket buys more than a space. It covers the shuttle, and it covers the Tourist Information Centre on the site: toilets, baby-changing facilities and a staffed desk. There is nothing else to pay before you reach the gate. The island itself charges no admission — only the abbey does.

Departures from Paris, Bayeux and Le Havre include the transfer, and the fare covers the car park you would otherwise be paying for.
Overnight, and staying on the Mont
The 24-hour tariff is what you pay if you are staying the night on the island — there is nowhere to leave a car closer, and hotels inside the walls cannot change that. In low season that is €14, which against the price of a room on the Mont is not the part of the bill worth worrying about. What you get for it is the ramparts at dusk with nobody on them.
